Moving is a BIG Job
By Julie DeLong, A-1 Freeman Moving Group
1) Poor Planning
Create a comprehensive plan for your move, one that explains everything you need to accomplish and incorporate a schedule with due dates. Make certain and assign someone to every task.
2) Procrastination
Why pack up your things today if you can delay it until later, right? Wrong! When you find yourself continually delaying things, you may be setting yourself up for an ugly moving day. Whether it is calling professional movers in Wichita Falls or packing your things, procrastination may bring on delays and also increased costs. Do not delay items on your move plan. Make your moving timeline and then go with it.
3) Moving Too Much
Let’s face it, most folks have tons of stuff in their residences that they don’t require. So, when it’s time to pack up and move, if you merely assume that everything needs to relocate with you, your move might be more expensive and more time consuming. Before you begin packing, take a little time to dig through your stuff. Don’t plan on moving belongings that are in disrepair, that you will not use and that you just don’t need. It’s also a great thought to gauge bulky items, as they might cost more to move than they are worth, and they may be tough to locate a place for them in your new residence.
4) Missing Packing Deadlines
The movers are coming early tomorrow. Your stuff isn’t even close to being packed up currently, and so you run around like a frantic person and shove everything into whatever boxes you have onhand. Poor packing makes it more likely that things will get damaged in transit. Hurried labeling can make it harder to pinpoint things while you are unpacking. When you cannot get all your things packed up before the professional movers in Wichita Falls arrive, you chance attempting to pack while the movers are loading the moving truck. Or even worse, the movers may cancel for the day and ask you to call your customer service coordinator to reschedule your moving day. Do not delay. Begin packing well before your move date.
5) Doing too Much Yourself
There is a breaking point when moving will be too much for a lone person. Hiring professional movers in Wichita Falls and having the moving company pack your stuff are obvious things to do to lighten your workload. But there are additional ways to get help. You might ask relatives to help you hold a yard sale or to watch your youngsters or pets while you are packing. Also, some charities might come and pick up your gently used unwanted items, which should save you from having to drive to the drop off location. You might think about hiring a cleaning service to take care of your old residence after you move out and to also clean your new residence ahead of when you move in. And lastly, make certain that all family members are pitching in with moving related chores. Even your young kids can be assigned age-appropriate tasks.
Usually over the moving process, it’s common to ask yourself, “Why is this so much work?”. But alas, when you steer clear of the pitfalls outlined above, hopefully your move will all fall into place.
